Rajasthan Tourism Holiday welcomes you to an unforgettable adventure to the desert country of Marwad with golden sands, blue houses, large forts, silent temples, and tales of kings. This is a tour made by those who want to see and experience Rajasthan in a slow pace. Here time is a slow matter; every sunset and every dune appear to be wondrous, and every ancient fort has a tale of courageous warriors of the Rajputana nation.

Marwad is more than deserts. It possesses vibrant culture, brightly-colored turans, folk songs, and camel riding, delicious food and calm nights with starry skies. You will visit Jodhpur, the Blue City; you will walk through the desert in Jaisalmer; you will experience the silence of Pokhran and you will live in Khimsar and Bishnoi villages. The forts, havelis, temples, lakes, wildlife and sand dunes all have the time to allow you to experience Rajasthan in full.

Day 1: Welcome to Jodhpur -The Blue City.

The trip begins when you visit the Blue City of Jodhpur. Take a nap after you have checked into your hotel. Mehrangarh Fort is a vast fortress built on a hill that is visited in the afternoon, and provides a perspective into blue-painted streets below. There are palaces within, mirror work, royal clothes and ancient weapons. And later visit the Jaswant Thada, a marble monument situated on a serene lake. Its white domes are shinning in the sun and its gardens calm. During the evening stroll around Clock Tower market, spices, handicrafts and silver jewelry. Jodhpur dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Bishnoi Villages, Mandore Gardens.

Breakfast and then take a brief tour of Bishnoi villages around Jodhpur. See desert life. Bishnoi are environmentalists. Deer, blackbucks, peacocks in and about villages. You are met by smiling women in traditional dress and men with bright turbans. Return to Jodhpur for lunch. During the evening, visit Mandore Gardens, where there are memorials of the ancient rulers, temples and thematic lawns. Domes of red stone are conspicuous with greenery. This is a serene location where the history and the peace converge. Stay overnight in Jodhpur.

Day 3: Field trip to Osian- Desert Temples.

In the morning breakfast and then drive to Osian, a desert town, having old Jain and Hindu temples. The carvings are elaborate on the temples and depict tales of the past. Sachiya Mata Temple on top of a hill overlooking the broad deserts is the most renowned. During the evening one can do camel ride in Osian dunes where the sunset makes sand gold. They can organize a folk music and dance performance, which will provide an idea about the Marwad hospitality. Spend the night in Osian or get back to Jodhpur at your own discretion.

Day 4: Khimsar Fort & Desert

Post breakfast drive to the small town of Khimsar, which still looks untouched. The most important is Khimsar Fort which is currently a heritage hotel yet possesses Rajput architecture. Its palaces, gardens and walls make it look like royal Rajasthan. Then visit Khimsar Sand Dunes Village, which is outside town. This is where you experience actual desert silence, free of people. The sun goes down and the sky becomes orange and the wind whistles through the sand. Breakfast, dinner and stay at Khimsar.

Day 5: Nagaur – The Fort Town

You go to Nagaur to-day, to a big fort and cattle fair. Nagaur Fort belongs to the largest ones in Rajasthan and has palaces, mosques and temples within it. Other forts are crowded and you can take your time going through gates and walls, just envisioning battle scenarios and kings. There are also silent markets and salt pans across the town. During the evening sit in fort courts or tour ancient lanes. Overnight stay in Nagaur.

Day 6: Barmer – Craft and Culture

Post breakfast drive to Barmer, a desert town close to the Indo-Pakistan border. Barmer has handicraft, wood carvings, pottery and embroidery. Women patchwork quilt and men carve wood into beautiful designs. See Kiradu Temples a bit outside Barmer. Beautiful stone carvings can also be found in these ancient temples and they are commonly referred to as the Khajuraho of Rajasthan. Evening free to visit the markets and enjoy the Marwadi food. Overnight stay in Barmer.

Day 8: Sam Sand Dunes -Desert Adventure.

This has been designated as a desert day outing at the Sam Sand dunes which are approximately 40 km out of Jaisalmer. Breakfast, drive to Sam and get into a desert camp. At this place, you may have camel riding and jeep riding across the dunes.

As the sun sets, go and sit on the sand and see how the sky changes colors. In the evening, have a cultural evening with Rajasthani folk dance, music and mouth watering food under the starlight sky. It is one of the magic nights in Marwad. Camp out in the desert.

Day 9: Pokhran- Silent Desert Town.

Eat breakfast and drive to Pokhran which is a small desert town between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur. Pokhran is a place of nuclear tests in India as well as the location of its fort which is a heritage hotel. But more than history, it has quiet streets and a mere beauty.You will go to Pokhran Fort, and its big gates, its courtyards and museum. Stroll in the silent bazaars of the town and visit people. Stay overnight in Pokhran.

Day 10: Kumbhalgarh -The Great Wall.

In the present day you are going to the Aravalli hills where you will visit Kumbhalgarh Fort that is a UNESCO Heritage site. The fort is encircled with a wall that is so long that it is termed as the Great Wall of India. The interior contains palaces, temples and step-wells.Beautiful is the drive, to small villages, green hills. Pass the night in Kumbhalgarh at ease. Stay overnight near the fort.

Day 11: Ranakpur and Pali -Temples and Villages.

In the morning, go to the Ranakpur Jain Temples, which have marble pillars, each carved invariously. It is very quiet in there. Next, visit a small town of Pali where you will find local markets and receive Marwari hospitality.Spend the time resting in your hotel. Stay overnight in Pali.

Day 12: Departure from Jodhpur

On the final day, pull back to Jodhpur. You should get to your local bazaars one more time, or have a bit of rest at a rooftop cafe looking out at Mehrangarh Fort. Your Rajasthan Marwad Tour concludes with sweet memories of deserts, forts, temples and friendly people.
